ONDCP Frequently Asked Questions
Who can apply for ONDCP grants?
HIDTA grants are awarded to existing designated HIDTA regions through law enforcement task forces. Drug-Free Communities grants are open to community-based coalitions with 501(c)(3) status that meet specific coalition composition requirements. Individual law enforcement agencies cannot apply directly for DFC grants.
How does the Drug-Free Communities program work?
DFC grants fund community coalitions of at least 12 different sectors (youth, parents, businesses, law enforcement, schools, etc.) to reduce youth substance use. Grants are awarded for up to $125,000 per year for up to 10 years (two 5-year grant periods). Communities must match federal funds dollar-for-dollar after the first year.
